  1. It would be a shame to lose a place where you can buy beer for 30 crowns with a rate of almost 1:1 to my currency in the center of Europe.

Hah, joking. For a year of living in Chechia, I couldn’t find an answer to the question why are you not yet in the eurozone, like Slovaks? Well yeah, it’s cheap, for me, for foreigner, but where your neighbors have much higher salaries (with prices of course) and the problem with conversions (I miss you, arabs Na Příkopě, I have yours coupons) when you need, an example, to visit Germany it’s problem. Czech bros explain please.

  2. Czechia could join Eurozone, but that would mean abandoning independent fiscal policies. Which may not necessarily be bad.

I just wonder, what happens with a bonds sold by Czechia in CZK if the country converts to EUR? Does the bond keep all the same conditions, but currency changes?

  3. Isn’t every country in the EU other than Denmark required to adopt the Euro? What’s the point of the requirement if governments can just say “nah, not now” repeatedly ?

  4. 4 out of the 5 parties in the next govt support Euro. Support among the population rising as well. It’s just a matter of time, though I agree we need to get our public finances under control in the next few years, so it doesn’t make sense now.

  5. Good, having control over your own currency is a big benefit when you compare lumping your country into a group of countries that are much bigger / have significantly bigger economy.
