Bringing manufacturing back to the USA is an ideological cornerstone of US President Donald Trump’s economic policy. It’s aimed not just at pushing foreign firms to invest in America, but at forcing US companies to onshore their own production lines. Squarely in the firing line is one of the country’s largest tech giants Apple, whose top-selling product, the iPhone, is made in Asia. It’s a tense situation for the California-based firm. If it were to actually produce the iPhone in America, its price would have to rise dramatically. Bryan Quinn and Mounia Ben Aïssa report.

  4. If they price it at $2300, they will price themselves out of the market. Consumer will buy the Pixel or Samsung for $1000. They will have to lower their price and lose profits to stay competitive. Itll correct itself over time. If Musk can build a car in the US and charge a fair price, pretty sure apple should be able to do the same with a tiny handheld device.

  16. One analyst said 25% more than Chinese slave labor; another said $3500. It will actually depend on what the consumer will be willing to pay. American robotics are better than Chinese slave labor and will make the phones cheaper. Stop with fear journalism.

If there is one thing I learned about this Government it is, They just use The President's name as the one who is controlling all the moves or in these cases, all the chaos that's being posed on this Country. Because Trump is not even smart enough to be deciding what's happening. It's The entire Government that decides these actions, but they just say it's Trump.   24. It doesn’t really make any difference just tell them to slow the data down in your old iPhone will work great. Anyway there’s not anything wrong with the phone you had last year start with they just upped the data speed so your phone won’t work that way they get to sell you a new one so just slow the data down and don’t worry about Prices of iPhones
