  1. I hope every nation will treat him as the bully he is. He is successfully turning the world anti-American and they will take full advantage of his stupidity.

  2. “When your enemy is doing something stupid, don’t stop him”

Give it 5 minutes and he’ll shoot himself in the other foot.

  3. He’s down. Get your horses rested and well fed! We ride at dawn bitches!

  4. Docs recommended that the large bullet hole in the ear be turned into a stretched earing piercing.

  5. “The independent forecaster Frontier Economics reckons that the impact of US tariffs will shrink UK GDP by 0.7%, while a deeper deal with the EU could instead lift GDP by 1.5%, despite US tariffs”

Damn do I hope Starmer doesn’t hang the country on the stupid principle of “no rejoining” and fear that any movement towards EU will jeopardize Labours next election chances.
There’s more than 4 years until that. If the country weathers this tariff madness (with EU together), he’d certainly be “forgiven” even by hardliners

  6. Brit here.

Sadly Starmer is going to give in and suck the Orange mushroom as he seems to think this is the “best for Britain”….

  7. American here (I know, I know – but some of us are trying to fight this regime). I hope the EU hangs together and just punishes the US to the fullest extent possible. I’m not an economist or political expert by any means, but the narcissistic, malignant idiocy that is currently controlling the current US administration needs to be stamped out. Without mercy. And, just to be clear, I’m middle class – not rich/wealthy by any means; but money is the only language these ‘people’ (if you can still consider them people) understand. But I’m willing to take the hit as much as I can in order to fuck over these bastards.

Sorry for the tirade. I can only say that the bullshittery that’s happening now isn’t a reflection of what most Americans want. And many of us here hope the EU stands up, stands tall, and spits in the face of the current administration.

  8. As an American, please take advantage of this situation.

  9. Chinese proverbe : “Just wait at shore to watch your enemies corpses drifting down the river”

“The art of war” or something like that.

  10. China is a boss. Europe is afraid of Trump. That is the difference. I know Europeans are proud but your politicians are weak that is the main problem.

  11.  Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.

  12. There was talk a few weeks back about America becoming part of the British Commonwealth.

I wholeheartedly support that move, and seriously wish it would happen forthwith.

  13. No, Trump is not ‘badly wounded’. he still owns the US and will continue to do so for at least 4 years, probably longer. As for the rest of the article, it’s a fairly good statement of the obvious. As ordinary (non-op-ed) people have been pointing out for weeks, this is a great opportunity for the EU, UK, and others (Canada, Australia, NZ, Latin America, maybe Turkey) to finally realize that the US is not needed for them to function. Together they have more people, more money and plenty of tech, military toys (including nukes) and natural resources – including much more oil – to work with each other – and leave the US outside looking in.  China would love to help with this. Let the MAGAs find out what relying on Russia is like. The US has been in decline for some time; MAGA stuff and moves like this are just a sort of official recognition of that fact. We are the latest second-rate nation on the world scene.  One of the great unintended ironies of all this is that MAGA, instead of making America great, are destroying what made American great in the first place, and in the process are rapidly pulling the US down toward the bottom of the pile.  We are becoming a second-rate nation with nukes. Like Russia.

Not long ago Trump declared, with his usual smug certainty, that from 1789 to 1913, the United States was the wealthiest it’s ever been, purely because of tariffs. According to him, we were collecting so much money so fast that the government didn’t know what to do with it. Of course, he left out the part where most Americans lived in poverty, where wealth was concentrated in a few monopolists’ hands, and where child labor and 14-hour workdays – 6 or 7 days a week – were the norm. The “wealth” he refers to was largely theoretical for the average citizen and absolutely real for the Carnegies, the Rockefellers, and other Robber Barons of the Gilded Age. Tariffs weren’t some magic goose laying golden eggs, they were regressive taxes that hit working people hardest, all while padding the profits of a corrupt elite. Sound familiar?

  14. With his perpetually impaired judgement and weak negotiating skills, Donald is an easy mark, of whom the UK (among others) can easily take advantage.

Combined with his delusions about having a superior intellect, the danger is very real.

  15. > Equally, they must have their eyes wide open about China
