  1. Look, if all he wanted was dollar for dollar back after the war, while treacherous I totally suspect Ukrainians were willing to pay it. But this extortionate crap of “We gave you 500B USD!11!” and killing good guys because you want bribe money isn’t cool and also widely known as bullshit.

    I’m not sure what the outcome will be, but most of the first world doesn’t have any such expectations of you, Ukraine. Even most of the Americans don’t see it this way.

    So you guys do what needs doing.

  2. This would not be a question if not for Trump. He’s infamous for not honoring promises, pledges, agreements or commitments. The POS is selfish and without honor.

  4. The world did not ask for a cent back when America invoked article 5 and pulled countries into the middle east wars, this proves it’s nothing more than a shakedown.

  5. In other words, Trump has no right to demand money for it.

    Also, none of it was really taxpayer money, and most of it was mothballing equipment – which they could still have sent more of. Some of the money Trump demanded was what the worth of the equipment was – when BRAND NEW.

    But Trump also has a habit of pulling numbers out of thin air, so it wasn’t even that much.

    Most of the money being given to Ukraine will be paid back with frozen Russian assets and of course trade deals that presumably involve military drones rather than carving up minerals that will take years to extract. Also, the safety guarantee of Russia being completely crippled. The difference being that we will be providing actual safety guarantees in return for trade deals, instead of ‘give us everything for nothing’.

  6. This is just pandering to his base under the guise of getting back money wasted on another country instead of it being used on US citizens. One tenant of Trump ideology is the embracing of isolationist policies.
