Boris Johnson horrified at onshore wind farm delays, sources say

  1. Journalists need to harden up and stop publishing anonymous leaks designed to make ministers look good despite being bad at their job.

If Rishi is shocked at cost of living, then he can either say so out loud or stop pursuing policies designed to harm Britain.

If Johnson wants more onshore wind, then say so out loud and accept pissing off some of his dumber supporters.

  2. He was part of the political Party that slowed onshore wind down for years. Cameron basically made it almost impossible for new onshore wind plans to be created.

  3. Mr Johnson horrified at delays. From a man who was at least two weeks late in 2020 in bringing in Covid 19 restrictions, almost never was on time for Downing Street press conferences (on one occasion three hours risking the start time of Strictly), and in his private life, cannot even withdraw in time.

  4. Im currently in the process of planning application for a solar farm. So…

To be fair to boris (fuck that…but anyway)… the overwhelming problem when it comes to planning permission (and this is ALWAYS the #1 cause of delays), is local government, and local pressure groups and organisations. The sad fact is, that even when paying around £9,700 for an APPLICATION for plannign permission, plus about £15k in other fees to various surveyors, quangos, ecologists, habitat experts, surveyors and history/conservation experts… you are still absolutely treated like the fucking enemy for daring to apply for planning permission.

The timescales involved are ridiculous, the fees exorbitant, and the default position of everyone involved is that nothing should be built, anywhere, ever.

Sadly, the kind of people who end up spending semi-retirement on planning committees, are exactly the sort of people who want to drag out their ‘jackie weaver’ style meetings as long as possible. They have ZERO interest in doing the right thing.

Planning permission needs central government to give it a serious kick up the ass. With n energy crisis and climate emergency AND putin… we really need costs and timescales for planning applications for renewable energy hugely reduced, and generally fast-tracked.
