Pay me tens of millions Amazon and I will write your script
Pay me a couple million im at least writing something on a napkin
Lara is a british researcher who is on an excursion with her colleagues when disaster strikes. She must fight to survive and the key to her survival is the secrets that are hidden in various tombs. The tombs are home to generations of cults descended from WW2 american soldiers. Give me 10 million dollars please
Guess fleabag was really a one hit wonder😒
Once they said they were considering Sophie Turner for the role I hoped it would never make it to production.
I just don’t know how that happens. There’s so much material to work with and modernize. Writing has really gone to shit with the over saturating of content
Just give us another game. The last 3 were great
I’m always happy to hear about Amazon wasting money
How can not writing a script cost tens of millions of dollars?
Can’t be that hard to write a script about a gal that just raids tombs right? 🤣
*puts old Milwaukee down* i gotchu
Hey I’ll do it. Can’t be that hard
Stunning British bombshell kicking ass, taking names and sought after relics, and saving the world in the process. How damn hard can it be?
Then again looking back at how bad the Netflix animated Tomb Raider series was, it’s incomprehensibly hard for modern creatives.
First of all, she is played by a black actress to stir up controversy and allow the studio to look virtuous. Secondly, she no longer pillages the cultural history of indigenous peoples, but rather raids the tombs of evil western colonial powers such as the UK and US. The villain is a middle-aged white cis hetero christian male CEO, who is rich and exploits his underlings.
She raids this white guy’s hidden family tomb, and uncovers that his grandfather was a nazi conspirator, funneling stolen artworks and nazi loot into the UK and amassing a fortune that the villain (our evil white CEO) still benefits from today. Over the course of the series she uncovers a massive stonemason nazi conspriacy that goes to the top of UK and US government. At the end of the season she defeats white CEO in his lair, but discovers a secret map to the tomb of …. Hitler! That will be the focus and hook of season 2.
Can I have my millions now please.
This kind of supports what Barbara Broccoli was concerned about with Amazon’s involvement with the Bond franchise. She alluded to the fact that Amazon is a “shit show” on that side of things and I’m guessing she’s right.
I don’t get it….Tomb Raider has been around for 30+ Years, and has had hundreds of Comics, Games, and Movies to reference, and Millions of dollars were wasted cause they couldn’t write a script. Why is there so much incompetence everywhere we look.
It’s literally an adventure series, they could’ve just made it a mcguffin chase on an island or in the Amazon.
Just revive the Alicia Vikander movies. The movie was not perfect but she was great as Lara Croft and they could’ve improved with the sequel.
They couldn’t even produce a bad script? Just nothing? Come on
Don’t worry Amazon will recoup their money by just charging more next year in subscription.
How the hell can they not produce a script? They have plenty of source material to work with.
But they saved $500,000 by not hiring any writer to write it!
Thank goodness, with Pheobe Waller Brudge involved it was going to a disaster.
Wild considering multiple movies and games already exist lol
Amazon just buy me an ounce and some wax and I will write an amazing script. Or at least something you could build on.
While no one wants to blow money on a bust, they’re probably overthinking it. It should be an adventure show, not a prestige TV, grainy shaky cam, monologue to the camera dramedy. Mix in some girl power globe trotting ala JJ Abrams’ Alias, mix in some season long mystery with weekly action set pieces and you have a good popcorn show.
I fail to see how any half decent writer couldn’t come up with a handful of plot suggestions and whack it into a script. The adventures Lara can be sent off on are practically limitless.
Give it to Craig Mazin…
