Turkey: Thousands join anti-government protests in Istanbul, opposition vows to keep fighting

Several thousand Turkish students protested on Tuesday in Istanbul and Ankara, reviving demonstrations after the March 19 arrest of Istanbul’s opposition mayor Ekrem Imamoglu by authorities. The demonstrators interviewed by the France 24 team say they are determined to continue fighting against the authorities’ policies.

Thanks to these protests, we have realized that Europe is silent except for the Socialist International and a few voices and that democracy is only for me and if you have a problem, it's your problem.

Free Imamoglu and other political detainees! Erdogan follows footsteps of Putin to eliminate his opponents on different pretexts.

Those previous charges sound very suspicious. Erdogan revoking Ekrem Imamoglu's university degree so that he cannot run for President sounds like the actions of a scared bully. Erdogan who has harbored and financially supported Hamas leaders for years.

    🇹🇷 The AKP-Erdoğan Experiment: A Global Warning 🇹🇷**

Leaders often claim divine authority, but real power comes from the people—unless stolen through political gaslighting and paid perception teams. Türkiye under Erdoğan exposes this playbook:

🔴 *The Autocrat’s Toolkit (AKP Edition)*
✔ *Elections Without Choice* – Media monopolized, opposition jailed, ballots questioned (OSCE)
✔ *Weaponized Justice* – 4,000+ judges purged, courts now enforce Erdoğan’s will (UN)
    ✔ *Looted Economy* – Lira’s 800% crash wasn’t incompetence—it was theft (IMF)
✔ *The Reza Zarrab Case* – $20B sanctions-busting scheme exposed AKP corruption (SDNY 2017)

    ⚠️ *Why This Matters Globally*
The AKP model proves how easily:
    – *Institutions collapse* when one man controls media, courts, and police
    – *Corruption becomes policy* ($128B missing in 2023 reserves)
    – *Society fractures* via manufactured culture wars

    💡 The Harsh Reality
    – 37 presidential palaces built since 2014
    – Children freeze (2023 energy crisis left schools without heat)
    – Doctors flee (62% of medical residents applied abroad in 2023)
    – Retired and families are hungry.

Power belongs to the people—not those who distort truth to keep it. #AutocracyExposed #TürkiyeLesson #RezaCase #PowerToThePeople #AKPtruths

All plans of enemies of Islam to stop turkey growing and bringing stability to the region like it did in Syria, the French are the least to open their mouth about freedom, morality or anything that resembles anything good

Notice how the people have to gather on a street in a CHP municipality because the dictator has banned throwing normally legit protests in Istanbul's squares.
