I work for a company in Sheffield that’s the target of a lot of ASB and vandalism.
South Yorkshire Police have just made it harder to report. To get into their online reporting portal you now have to set up and account with a username and password! Quite often the site is down altogether!
But make a rude comment about a footballer on Twitter and be jailed in no time.
I literally reported knife crime outside my house and they didn’t even bother to show up. I lived about 200m from a huge police station and never saw a single officer enter or leave the building. I assume our police force is decorative at this point?
Government: Years of huge crippling cuts to policing and mental health services. Many areas now have more branches of Greggs than PCs on duty.
Police: No longer have staff to attend the vastly increased number of calls
Government *Shocked Picachu*
I’m just commenting to balance out the opinions. I have had to call the police twice about anti social behaviour at our local park- both times they came really quickly, and followed up with me.
Police staffing levels are some of the worst in Europe.
I haven’t seen a copper walking the streets in our town (North Kent) for about 4-5 years. Occasionally you see a car but aside from that it’s pretty plod free.
Maybe the government have already concluded that a population that feels insecure is much easier to control.
Meanwhile, strip searching minors and deploying a whole unit to 10 peaceful protesters seems to be all the rage.
