Protests continue unabated in Istanbul, initiated by the opposition party • FRANCE 24 English

The Turkish opposition claims it must “force” President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to call for early elections after the arrest of Istanbul’s mayor last month. The Republican People’s Party is working to revive an anti-government protest movement, with hundreds heeding the call to demonstrate in Istanbul and across the country, as explained by FRANCE 24’s Andrew Hilliar.

  1. How can the Turkish people ever join the EU when free elections are banned. The Turks and leaders have a long way to go. It would be good if all would work for a safe and prosperous Turkey linked to the EU.

  2. Youngsters are out of jail today! Next, the opposition! Be balanced and have free will, France24! And no matter what, everyone will watch you! Never get under the control of your government! Nice reports! Peace!

  3. RESISTANCE TO TYRANNY IS OBEDIENCE TO GOD! Don't give up hope. Never give in. Never surrender.

  4. "There is only one competent authority that is the heart, conscience and the existence of the nation" Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Türkiye

  5. Freedom for Turkish people freedom for imamoglou out the dictator take out imamoglou and get erdogan in to see what prison is he put so many people in prisons for nothing

  6. Respect for Turkish people who call for democracy and rule of law. Erdogan, who is in power for 22 years, has turned to an authoritarian figure by local and global standards.

  7. Erdogan The Dictatotr Must Step Down Immediately and Save the Country from a Civil Unrest ! The Turkish people deserve their Freedom from the Dictator Erdogan

  8. As we was expect, Erdogan plan work
He give 1 week off to gavement so the
People get cool down then get tired
and stop strikes against him (so simple)

  9. The people that are protesting are not seeing and following whats happening clearly. Theyre protesting against the law since the person in question has been leeching money from the government under the table and its all proven. Its like your brother stole something from someone but youre defending him because he is your brother even though you know theft is wrong. Its as simple as that. There are facts, there are evidences and the most funny thing of all is that the first few witnesses that came forth are from within their own party! Now, the person in question's own lawyer, whom also took part in the stealing processes, has also come forth and explained everything about what he did to cover up the stealing! These people on the streets are a joke and are brainless sheep who only want their party to lead Türkiye after havent been leading for the past i cant rememmver how many years. So there you have it, inside view of the topic. Everything ive said can be looked up and searched and backed up by facts. Its the same like that woman in England if im not mistaken, who is also banned from any politics for the next 5 years or so….

  10. FREE IMAMOGLU NOW! He is an educated leader with no criminal history and much loved by the Turkish people. This is clearly staged by Erdogan's party to put him out of the elections and slander him to give false image to public. The only person is a threat to Turkey is Erdogan and hope to see him gone in the coming election!
