From Andy Craig, a fellow at the Institute for Humane Studies:
It’s time to stop beating around the bush: Trump must be impeached and removed from office.
A few members of Congress understand this and are willing to say it. It’s a start, and one where public pressure is essential. It’s more effective than you might think at breaking the silence.
A group of self-organized volunteers has been recruiting voters in every House district and started simply asking congressional offices. [“Operation Anti-King,”](https://www.citizensimpeachment.com/) they fittingly call it. In addition to Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, who[ has already](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xv7U3EOeBvA&t=1020s) called for impeachment — and has done so many times since Trump’s first term — they quickly found seven more willing to go on the record: Reps. Suzanne Bonamici and Maxine Dexter of Oregon, Sam Liccardo and Maxine Waters of California, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Shri Thanedar of Michigan, and Hank Johnson of Georgia.

As long as there’s not a substantial chunk of republicans talking about impeachment in both house and senate, non of this is noteworthy.
Gingrich laid the groundwork for republican partisanship’s down spiral into the the cult that has turned into maga.
I’ll believe it when it happens. Until then, congress is a bunch of spineless synchophants.
3rd times the charm.
even if.. what is that going to do? they are laughing at the laws…
Until majority of republicans in both houses change, it’s a waste of time.
It wouldn’t really mean much because he controls the House and Senate. What good would impeaching him for a 3rd time do?
Just now starting?
They impeached him, twice, for far less last time around. What the fuck are we even talking about here
maybe they should truly impeach trump and get him out of office this time
Impeachment, preferably followed by incarceration for any of the crimes committed prior to the election, may be the only way that the US can regain the respect of the rest of the world. Anything less just proves that the US system of government is not fit for purpose. If you cannot remove someone who is doing such extreme amounts of damage to your country, you are an untrustworthy and unreliable partner that the rest of the world has no choice but to isolate and workaround.
Do I think this will happen? …No. And I am genuinely sad that a good friend is self-harming with such brutal efficiency.
It seems that a major problem with Impeachment is that most Americans don’t even know what it actually means to be impeached.
As we have seen from the previous two impeachments it means absolutely nothing. 67 Senators have to actually agree with each other and vote to remove him from office.
That is never going to happen.
Are any of them Republicans? Oh, they’re not? Ok, let me know when they are. I won’t hold my breath.
They need to do their fucking job and toss this idiot back to Florida.
Talk is cheap.
This is just content to click on. Why bother even discussing this at all? Waste of time
lol just like the other times?
Wake me up when the Republicans are on board. We have gone through this crap multiple times, with impeachment, criminal trials, all to no avail. I’m exhausted with all the false hope.
Impeach AND Remove. Then do Vance as he is complicit. Maybe Johnson too, but he will probably figure out the situation by then and change his opinion again.
Impeach the top 50 in line to the Oval Office and then maybe we can say this is a victory.
Also, it would be interesting to see Vance become president and watch him have to defend Trump as he insists he is still the president and refuses to leave the White House.
Of course they’re right. They’ve been right since 2018.
But they need two thirds of the senate for it to actually mean anything. And as everyone knows, “principled conservative” is an utter oxymoron
They spelled imprisonment wrong.
Honestly I’m all for anything that will just bog them down. Anything that will take up time. The problem with impeachment is that with 53 Republicans they’ll just dismiss the charges outright immediately versus starting a trial like the Dems did with the BS charges against Mayorkas.
If the Dems win both houses or at least get it closer to 50/50 in the Senate then fuck it, do it over and over.
I wonder if Tyranny is too vague. People want specific crimes.
When that headline contains the word “Republicans” come wake me up. Otherwise I’m waiting until 2026. Thanks
>Some Democrats in Congress are starting to talk about impeachment.
Yawn.
Wake me when they’re ready to do more than talk. A good start would be voting against Trump’s policies instead of rolling over.
Lookin at you, Chuck.
Do it now. And arrest Musk on title 18
I hate these articles so much. Of course the opposing party is talking about impeachment. Republicans are ON BOARD with this agenda and will not even begin to whisper about impeachment until they are personally affected a la January 6th.
If republicans really want him gone then they should let him know that there are enough republicans in both chambers to both impeach him and then remove him from office if he doesn’t resign. That should be enough. This will never happen.
So many people were bitching that the democrats weren’t mounting any kind of resistance and now everyone in this thread is saying “meaningless”.
Make up your mind folks.
A handful of Democrats in the House isn’t enough. Until every Democrat and multiple Republicans in both the House and Senate do, it doesn’t matter.
People here need to accept the fact that in popular democracies people’s political alignments are driven by our evolutionary brains, not by the rational processes described by the Enlightenment philosophers. Most neurotypical humans vote based on tribal alignments, emotional reactions to the images and phrases used by politicians, awareness of how members of our immediate community or families feel, and similar things based on millions of years of evolution as a social primate species.
One thing that social primate species tend to do is align themselves with the most powerful members of the group. So when the Democrats do things with demonstrate their weakness they’re basically undermining their own support. Failed impeachment efforts like the ones during Trump I are really good way to demonstrate your weakness.
The Democrats should not attempt an impeachment on the last day of confident they can get Trump found guilty in the Senate. And I think the chances of that are nil.
Let me know when it’s Republicans and they have the votes.
The title says “Some Democrats in Congress”
Yes, we know. Some have even already submitted their own articles for it
Nobody cares until Republicans start talking about it.
He’s been impeached twice already. Nothing happened. It was a giant waste of time. He then went on to be convicted of 34 felonies and is back in office. Good luck people.
They have such a hard decision. Impeachment? Or make money from insider trading?
Starting. STARTING?!?
Unless it’s 20 Republican Senators willing to convict, it doesn’t matter.
Not enough. He and his entire regime needs to be handed over to The Hague
