“A day will come when we will see these two huge groups, the United States of America and the United States of Europe, facing each other, shaking hands over the walls, exchanging their products, their trade, their industry. ” (Victor Hugo, Congress Of Peace 1849)
Hmmmmmmm….
The missing of some “accents” is kind of irritating.
“OCÉAN ATLANTIQUE” is possible, but not “GRÈCE”?
TIL Finnish Maiden has a dick
I start to think that the editor got bored when they got to the green countries.
Either that or this is a parallel universe.
I want to know how they managed to misplace the Greenland Sea across the Atlantic? I can get not knowing or even mentioning the Norwegian Sea, but wtf?
The European Union as it should have remained.
At least we can precisely date this map to a three-year window!
Oh wow, the French gave us Finns our second leg back from Russians!
What do the colours stand for?
Greenland sea? Denmark looks like, idk.. Who made this map
Wait, it’s a map from between 2001 to 2004 obviously. What are Serbia and Montenegro doing separated there?
Also, poor Belarus, it’s there but not named.
Moldova will gladly accept this newly donated coastline.
Once (circa 2002) I forgot my atlas in school for the geography exam. I was lent one from the school library, it still had the USSR in it. Still passed though.
What’s with the sunglasses/moustachios in Russia and Finland
Yes the good old Croatia-romania border
Wait can we rejoin the Eu I like this map makes the U.K. look bigger
geez, this is about participation in Euro currency. Seems accurate, the state about 2012 (before Baltics and Slovakia adopted Euro).
The good old times
Where is my Belarus 🙁
Lithuania really bulked up huh
Finland has sick ski glasses B)
And no Iceland
The optimism of that quote is actually kind of depressing in hindsight. In a melancholic way.
I had the same one when I was in CM1/CM2 … Pretty sure I bought it in Carrefour 🤔
I like how they’ve handled Belarus.
The small text in the top right says:
“A day will comme where we will see those two huge groups, the United States of America and the United States of Europe, placed one facing the other, holding hands above the walls, exchanging products, businesses, industries.”
This was apparently a coat by Victor Hugo, a great french writer, dramatist novelist and poet that was part of the Academie Française and the National Assembly.
