  2. How is this shite even ‘news’ random people ‘upset’ when their flight was cancelled. No doubt ‘In breaking news today a toddler cried when they dropped their icecream’ is a follow up story.

    A refund, how nice. My flight to Amsterdam got cancelled in between the time it took us to get through security. Spent about 5 hours at the airport trying to find alternative flights to get there but the airline’s customer desk was mysteriously empty and of course their support lines were jammed. Their website showed flights available to book but every time we tried to proceed it would give an error. Refresh the page and a brand new page of random flights would show up to fail again. When I finally got through to them they offered an alternative flight that was leaving the next day and that would take over 48 hours in total and we would arrive a few hours before it was time for us to go to the airport to come back.

    When we tried to claim compensation we got nothing, because the reason for the cancellation is not covered under that law, I don’t remember the reason anymore. We lost the cost of the plane tickets, the accommodation booking, the cost to the get to the airport and back and a whole day of frustration. I would have killed for even just a refund on the plane tickets.
