1. Was a win-win with Rose in the playoff too, but well done Rory. Long overdue.

2. All timer back 9. Absolutely unreal. Delighted for him after so many painful near misses

3. Didn’t make it easy but played some incredible shots. Deserved winner but I do feel sorry for Rose. You feel that may have been his last chance, he had an amazing final round.

4. Can’t help but feel that the media were ready to coronate him from day 1, as they have done for the last ten years. They’ve treated it like it’s been McIlroy’s god given right to win a green jacket for so long. Thankfully it’s over

5. Honestly so happy for him, and i say that as an Englishman watching Rose lose.

   Anyone but a yank winning is good in my eyes

   Finally got the grand slam, first major in over 10 years for him

6. Genuinely thought he might bottle it after his missed putt on the 18th. But that approach in the playoff, woof – might go down as one of the best shots of his career

9. That final put was like the weight of the world lifting. It was epic.

10. I nearly had a heart attack watching that. Rory always puts you through the mill.

11. The best day of golf I can remember watching, highs and lows all day for Rory and so many others. Pulling off shots like he did on 15 after a wedge from 80 yards into the creek.. so happy for Rory, and can’t help but feel for Rose even though he ended up pulling 7 shots back and walking away with 2nd.

12. You could see the weight lift off his shoulders when he won. Congrats to him
