    Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick sowed further confusion about President Donald Trump’s tariffs on tech products on Sunday.

    Speaking with ABC’s This Week, Lutnick said that the technology exemption from the Trump administration’s reciprocal tariffs on China was only temporary—tech companies should expect to see the levies hit under a “semiconductor tariff” at a later date.

    “All those products are going to come under semiconductors, and they’re going to have a special focus type of tariff to make sure that those products get reshored,” Lutnick said. “We need to have semiconductors, we need to have chips, and we need to have flat panels—we need to have these things made in America. We can’t be reliant on Southeast Asia for all of the things that operate for us.”

  2. This is intentional. Trump thinks that chaos is good for deals. Get everyone scared enough and they agree to anything to make you stop being weird.

  3. Nutlick is such an idiot. Hopefully him and Navarro both are out sooner rather than later.

    To the point though, he isn’t Trump, and I’ve learned to only listen to what Trump actually says throughout this thing ..

  4. None of them have any clue about how the sweeping or even targeted transitional tariffs are impacting us adversely. Damage is being each day, retreat from this and that carve out does not work when officials themselves say it can change at any time. Thanks for trying to help the U.S. business; the fools are doing the opposite.

    Countries, even those willing to talk to US pretending to negotiate are looking to alternatives and respective population of countries themselves responding with avoiding U.S. goods. Besides the major blocks and powerful countries are not backing down with tariffs of their own. Hell, even bonds are becoming less attractive, and we are having a difficult time to sell.
