How about the kind of victory is “not 100% of your troops is killed”?
You’ve already lost, Russia, when you invaded.
Here is what I want: Putin and his entire Duma get a train ticket to the Netherlands, Hague, and get yourself booked at the International Criminal Court for war crimes.
“Victory” LMAO that “country” is going to disappear from the historical record.
Fine, we’ll let them keep Moscow.
So NATO is a threat to Russia but article 5 is worthless, and Russia is only acting against NATO because of its Eastward expansion, which last happens in 2004? And Ukraine wants to join NATO but they only want to join because Russia invaded it but NATO is also worthless but must be stopped because it’s a threat to Russia?
This guy is all over the place. Must be advising Putin.
After war crimes, only gallows are solution!
Honestly if people like him is advising putin, then putin’s self-harming actions makes a bit more sense.
>But I am very concerned about the overwhelming economic predominance of China over the next decade. People like me have been saying precisely [that] we have to solve the Ukraine problem, we have to solve the Nato problem, so that we can be in a strong position vis-à-vis China. Now it will be much more difficult for Russia to resist Chinese power.
Like this, so he is saying Russia need to counter Chinese power. And the way to achieve that is…..to start a fight with the entire western alliance. That is supposed to work? And then in the end he recognizes that his idea didn’t work?? What?
>BM : Do you think the US is benefiting from this war?SK : At this juncture, yes, because the big losers are, in addition to Ukraine, Europe, especially if it continues with this mysterious zest for independence from Russian energy. But China is clearly the victor of this whole affair…
So the US is a winner because Europe is a loser, ok, let’s just work with that….And then
>I think the biggest loser will be Ukraine; a loser will be Russia; a great loser will be Europe; the United States will lose somewhat, but still it could very well survive as a huge island over the ocean; and the big victor is China.
The US is still a loser, despite being a winner? What????
>I would say yes, this is an existential war. If we do not win, somehow, then I think we will have all kinds of unforeseen political repercussions which are much worse than at the beginning of the 1990s. But I believe that we will avoid that, first, because Russia will win, whatever that victory means, and second, because we have a strong and tough regime, so in any event, or if the worst happens, it will not be the dissolution of the country or collapse. I think it will be closer to a harsh authoritarian regime than to the dissolution of the country. But still, defeat is unthinkable.
This is the best part. So as an advisor, you advice your president by saying “we will win, I am not sure what winning means or what constitutes as victory or how we win, but we will win anyways, because we can’t afford to loose, so let’s just wing it, trust me bro.” What??????
Well worth a read, whether you agree or disagree in the end.
I just do not understand anybody’s objectives in this mess. Russia clearly misread the situation and royally screwed up. Europe *probably* also misread the situation – as in regime change in Russia looks unlikely, despite sanctions and military setbacks. So what now?
This quote summarizes it for me:
“China is clearly the victor of this whole affair… I think the biggest loser will be Ukraine; a loser will be Russia; a great loser will be Europe; the United States will lose somewhat, but still it could very well survive as a huge island over the ocean; and the big victor is China.”
> There was also a strong belief that war with Ukraine was inevitable – maybe three or four years from now – which could well have taken place on Russian territory itself.
Imagine how deluded or wildly dishonest you have to be to say that anyone at all would ever consider invading a nuclear power.
> This war is a kind of proxy war between the West and the rest – Russia being, as it has been in history, the pinnacle of “the rest” – for a future world order.
Jesus fucking Christ, the self-delusion on display. Yes, it is Russia with an economy the size of Spain that is “the pinnacle” of the non-Western world rather than, you know, China.
This man seems like he didn’t read the news for a few good weeks.
He and everyone supports him deserve no victory of any kind, they need to be slapped by reality as hard as we can. We saw what happens pandering with autocrats, stop committing the same mistakes
Russia can not afford to lose? Russia can’t afford to win. A prolonged occupation would absolutely break the country by the looks of it.
You should have never started this war, Vova. No matter how long it’ll last or how it’ll end, in a few months, when the reserves run dry, you’ll start to appreciate what a phenomenally idiotic decision this was and that saving face should have been the least of your worries right now.
>BM It’s the second time you’ve mentioned that if there is no progress it would lead to an escalation. What does “escalation” mean in this context?
>
>SK Well, escalation in this context means that in the face of an existential threat – and that means a non-victory, by the way, or an alleged defeat – Russia could escalate, and there are dozens of places in the world where it would have a direct confrontation with the United States.
“If we aren’t getting a victory in Ukraine then we will have to go to war with the United States directly somewhere else.”
Hitler: Damn, my war with the UK isn’t going the way I wanted it. I better declare war on the Soviet Union. That’ll do it.
*some time later*
Hitler: Well, the war with the Soviet Union isn’t going so well. Declaring war on the US will probably fix things.
“If we cannot deliver victory we will deliver *special* victory.”
Sergey you don’t have an empire anymore you cretin! You can’t afford much nowadays .
