Bare in mind that here in the UK we’re not affected as heavily with the tariffs, and GBP is performing favorably against the collapsing USD (as everyone panics widly at Trump’s brain farts), Sony’s “tough decision” to raise prices could arguably be seen as profiteering. Especially as the device isn’t made in the USA and thereby we would be unaffected by those tariffs in terms of import/expert of the devices.

    Its yet another classic case of “look, a great excuse to raise our profit margins again”.

    Brace yourselves for everyone else to follow suit in quick succession.

  5. So the PS5 which is manufactured in China will be increased in price by 25% when sold in the UK, the EU, and Australia, countries that have NOT imposed an increased tariff on imports.

    So sure it is an impact of Trump’s tariffs, with Sony wanting to maintain level pricing for the product across the world, but a nice side effect of lots more profit for Sony from UK, EU, and Australian consumers.

    I’m so happy with my Series X and I save so much money with GamePass. Sony aren’t the company they used to be. Too busy wasting money on live service shit

    Honestly, at this point, I’m 35, I’m just playing stuff I already know I like (I fired up FFX again yesterday). I’ve got my PS5 already, i’ve got the Switch 2 on pre-order. That might be my last stop.

  19. Not surprising! Most companies will increase prices globally to soften the impact on customers in their primary market.
