The Lithuanian Ministry of National Defense has allocated €10 million for the production of modern Ukrainian long-range weapons.
This is the first tranche under the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Kyiv and Vilnius in December 2024.
According to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, Ukrainian weapons manufactured with this support are already working effectively at the frontline, increasing the range, accuracy, and firepower of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
Ukraine and its Lithuanian partners are working on the next stage – another tranche of €10 million, which will expand production and further strengthen defense capabilities.
Umerov called this cooperation a strategic investment in Ukraine’s strength, independence, and the security of the whole of Europe.
“Sincerely grateful to the government and people of Lithuania for their steadfast support, strategic vision, and real contribution to our victory,” he said.
Lithuania’s assistance to Ukraine
In March, we reported that Lithuania continues to invest in the Ukrainian defense industry and is going to purchase at least 20 million euros worth of weapons for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
In mid-January, Lithuanian Defense Minister Dovile Šakalienė said that Ukraine would receive thousands of drones worth EUR 5 million from Lithuania.
Earlier, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda called for providing Ukraine with modern weapons and long-range strike capabilities.
