Icelandic Eurovision representatives VÆB have revealed that significant changes have been made to their performance for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025.
In an interview with RÚV, the duo confirmed that both the staging and outfits for their Eurovision entry “Róa” (Row) have been updated for Basel.
The Icelandic brothers explained that their performance will feature new graphics. Since the song is sung entirely in Icelandic, the creative team decided to make the graphics more relatable for European audiences, by focusing on the concept of the song.
Additionally, VÆB confirmed that their outfits have been redesigned. While details remain a secret, Matthías Davíð shared that the silver color from their national final performance will remain a prominent feature.
VÆB are a duo consisting of brothers Hálfdán Helgi Matthíasson and Matthías Davíð Matthíasson. Their Eurovision entry “Róa” was written and composed by Gunnar Björn Gunnarsson, Ingi Þór Garðarsson and VÆB themselves, and is entirely performed in Icelandic. The duo will open this year’s contest by performing first in the Semi-Final One on May 13.

Iceland debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1986 and, aside from 2 years of relegation in 1998 and 2002, has participated every year since. The contest is incredibly popular in Iceland, regularly being one of the most-watched programs of the year. Iceland has yet to win the contest but has finished in 2nd on two occasions. In 1999, Selma missed out on victory in Jerusalem by 17 points, and in 2009 Yohanna became the most successful Icelandic entrant ever finishing 2nd in the final with the song “Is it True?”. She scored 218 points, yet still finished 169 points behind the runaway winner Norway.
