Global supplier GL events has signed a major contract.

The France-based company is now a major delivery partner for the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. The Games are set to take place from 19 September to 4 October 2026.

The Asian Games are the world’s second-largest multi-sport event (surpassed only by the Olympics) – and one of the largest sporting events in the world. The Games attract around one billion viewers, on par with the Rugby and Cricket World Cups.

Economically, their impact is vast – the Hangzhou Games generated $65m in sponsorship revenue. The Asian Games blend Olympic staples like athletics and swimming with regional events such as dragon boat racing, kabaddi and even e-sports.

GL events will provide a wide range of services, including venue overlay, catering and media areas, access and accreditation systems and medal ceremony operations. It will also support the Organising Committee with design, planning and logistics.

The company said the deal will drive significant revenue growth for 2025 and 2026. It adds to a large portfolio that includes the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, the 2019 Rugby World Cup and the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

GL events already operates Aichi Sky Expo, the host region’s largest exhibition venue, and said the new contract reinforces its long-term commitment to Japan.

Chairman and CEO Olivier Ginon said: “We are committed to creating memorable experiences that will leave their mark on the history of these Games.

“With that objective, the Group’s teams will be rapidly deployed to implement the most effective solutions. This major project will ensure significant business growth for the Group in 2025 and 2026.”

GL events is a global French company specialising in services for congresses, trade shows and major sporting and cultural events. It has been delivering large-scale international events since 1978, and manages operations and venues across five continents.
