  1. I do feel that people are being a bit disingenuous about the succession rights of Japan. We can all agree that the monarchy is suffocating and that it would be best for Aiko to get married and leave but yet people still want go trap her by advocating for her to become empress. 

    There’s also the weird subset of people that have been going around spreading rumors about her male cousin that’s he’s some how mentally challenged since he was a minor. Or saying awful comments about a literal child on comment sections on yahoo and on twitter just because they want Aiko to be empress. 

    It’s a monarchy neither aiko or hisahito have any earned right to become emperor/empress. Both sides should take a chill pill. 

  2. Japan first needs to not stop making women leave the monarchy when they marry outsiders and only afterwards a conversation about a female emperor can happen.

    Japan, despite being technologically advanced, is still very behind when it comes to women’s rights/issues. And if they are conservative on ordinary women, when it comes to the royal family, it gets worse. Change is happening but very slowly, and will likely happen to non-royal women first than to royal women.
