A woman has been shot dead in a drive-by shooting in Sydney’s south-west, sparking a police investigation.

Emergency services were called to a home in Ambarvale about 11pm on Monday, following reports a woman had been shot.

Local officers arrived to find a 65-year-old woman had suffered a gunshot wound to her leg.

According to police, the woman was struck in the leg when an unknown vehicle fired multiple bullets into the home before driving away.

Paramedics and police treated the woman, but she died at the scene.

A 34-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, who were also at the property at the time of the shooting, were uninjured.

NSW Police, with assistance from State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, have established Strike Force Apslawn to investigate the incident.
