  2. Gotta love racism. Lmao these clowns will argue this isn’t racist whilst calling people racist who aren’t being racist. Stupid people

  3. I know a way to get around this but it is frowned upon these days

  4. I don’t think minorities are underrepresented in the NHS. This is from the Daily Express, a particularly odious rag.

  5. The NHS is the most diverse organisation I’ve ever seen. And if was well before diversity – or racism against whites – became fashionable

  6. Bollocks. I don’t believe this, or anything that rag prints, for that matter

  7. This has been happening in the arts/media sector for years, under the guise of ‘progression’ and ‘under representation’, especially with the Arts council UK. It’s selective racism for idiot white people to pat themselves on the back, like they’ve done something good by looking at people for what they are and not what they can do.

  8. Surprising that the ‘Senior Political Correspondent’ can’t be bothered to actually provide a source for their article. In leiu of any sourcing I’m going to guess it was a regularly dredged up opinion piece relating to this from last year

    >Consider an adaptation of the Rooney Rule which

    >could be that if an application is received by an

    >ethnic minority and they are not shortlisted, detailed

    >feedback of why they were not shortlisted is provided

    >to the individual. Ensuring positive action, not

    >discrimination.

Please, actually critique these articles before falling for this ‘journalism’

  9. A personal view, this happens all over the public sector. I used to recruit technology roles for a government department and candidates were guaranteed an interview if they had the “right” qualities, if you know what i mean. The amount of time wasted speaking to underqualified people who would do a terrible job was immesurable.

  10. For the love of god find a better source than the express or the mail

  11. How do they know people are white or non white based on their CV?

  12. As a person who recruits in the NHS I have never seen any evidence of this

  13. Absolutely disgusting policy and this is going to result in the UK getting its very own Trump if this madness continues.

  14. How would the nhs do that when we don’t know gender race or sexual orientation on the applications form ? No nhs hiring manager is preview to that information when selecting candidates

  15. I’ve worked for the NHS for over 30 years, and have been involved in hiring hundreds of staff, headline narrative is simply not true and is not how NHS recruitment policies work. Don’t believe everything you read.

  16. That’s not how hiring in the NHS works, the first time I’ve ever found out someone’s race during the hiring process is at the interview stage. The choice on who to hire has never been dictated to me based on any protected characteristic, but on merit.

  17. It’s not someone in the NHS saying this, it’s some random Tory rambling about his persecution fantasies and y’all are treating it as gospel truth.

But at the same time you’ve got people in this thread saying “I recruit for the NHS and this isn’t true,” and you’re downvoting them for it because you want it to be true.

  18. This story is about tick box policies being detrimental. Right? Did I read it wrong?

  19. I wonder why the public sector has gone down the gutter in recent years🤔

  20. Park the racism on this for one second, the NHS is struggling to hire in general. Yet we limited the number of places at universities to get a medical degrees. We then encourage people from abroad to move over here, taking valuable expertise from other countries to fill the gaps in our own country. Then once you get your degree, you’re then potentially losing a spot to DEI quoters

Why is the government not seeing their own actions is what screwing over the NHS?

  21. How would you know if someone is non-white by their CV? I’ve worked in recruitment and never once did I see a CV with ethnicity mentioned on it. Almost like it’s completely made up.

  22. From 2021 onwards, I briefly hired for an NHS Trust and never came across anything associated with ethnicities…

  23. I’d be keen to see his source on this – Because as someone who worked, shortlisted, and interviewed for many many jobs across the 12 years I was there ….

Every single system I ever used on NHSJobs kept the majority of details (including names) completely confidential from hiring managers – to stop any kind of challenge of discrimination or cherry picking of friends.

I’m not saying that it isn’t happening, just seems at the complete opposite end of the spectrum from my experience with jobs within the NHS

  24. Daily Express; if it were printed on dogshit the shit would still be the more valued part.

  25. Bullshit- the NHS has so many plates it needs to keep spinning at once with such limited resources there is absolutely no way they are tying themselves in knots this way over racial matters. This will just be something taken stupidly out of context.

  26. Unfortunately we are not at the civilisational level to battle misinformation.

Right wingers found out that as long as they tap into the deepest fears of their dumbest constituents by flooding the zone with literal lies that confirm these constituents’ biases, they will vote them in and do whatever they’re told.

There are people in this thread explaining how nothing stated in the article is true. The article itself has no source provided. Yet here they are, tens of people explaining how ‘we just might need our own Trump to get this shit out’. A fella even went as far as to say that ‘this is exactly what people who don’t like DEI have a problem with, just can’t explain it’, of course referring to a fake news himself.

    Have at it, folks.
