The problem with this is that there’s a not insignificant chance it ends up going ahead anyway but being sponsored by the TERFiest of TERFs. A lot of whom are straight.
The Tories have a terrible record when voting in favour of bills that would help the LGBT community, on top of the various comments made by Tory MPs that show how they really feel about the LGBT community. A three day conference does nothing to change the fact that the Tories are content to use their power to do things that will really benefit the LGBT community, especially the trans community, in the long run.
Yeah, the Tories hosting an LGBT conference is like Bernard Matthews hosting one for vegans.
I suppose trying to drop the pledge to ban conversion therapy was a big no no?
Is this why that person came out as trans or am I just that jaded by the tories
On the bright side, if there’s anything that might actually push the tories into recognising trans rights, it’s the threat of losing support of big businesses and their precious donor money.
If I remember right, they threatened LGBTQ organisations that if they didn’t show up, they’d invite the LGB Alliance to take their place.
I guess that just goes to show what kind of ‘advocacy group’ the LGB Alliance is when the government are using them as something to threaten people with.
It’s genuinely impressive to be so evil that BP doesn’t want to associate with you.
Didn’t Borris and Cameron “vanish” everyone there was a vote on Gay marriage (check their voting history) and Borris wrote a newspaper article referring to gay men as “shirt lifters”?
