   > A: We should make it very clear that we don’t think it’s in our security interests to have Russian assets based not too far from our border. We do not believe it is in the interests of stability within the region to have those assets based in Indonesia.

   I thought independent and sovereign nations can do whatever the hell they want, and it doesn’t matter what concerns their neighbors have about it. That is, like, the default goto answer when it comes to NATO involvement in Ukraine and Russia’s objections to it, citing those very same security and stability concerns.

   The sheer amount of hypocrisy is suffocating.
