Trust this government to snatch offense and division from the jaws of decency 🙁
Is the definition of “conversion therapy” in law broad enough that preventing it would harm people who decide to detransition?
Breadcrumbs thrown from the table to placate people.
Which is exactly what they wanted all along. Next two years until election will be spent seeking the TERF and ‘gender critical’ vote
The limited u-turn, and deliberate decision to exclude trans issues, indicates that the original decision to drop plans for a ban was never about scheduling or parliamentary time.
It was always about the government not caring and being frightened to stand up to anti-LGBTQ groups.
Gender dysphoria is a mental health condition.
Treatment should involve looking at the mind, through explorative therapy, rather than irreversible medication and surgery, particularly for children.
This has absolutely nothing to do with abusive ‘conversion therapy’ practices for sexuality, and conflating the two was a serious mistake.
The legislation risked criminalising explorative therapy. It is that simple.
