Solicitor Ammi Burke’s unfair dismissal claim thrown out by WRC

  1. Sounds like an absolute headcase. Held up proceedings for over 5 hours jesus christ.

Also she was given 17,500 pay in dismissal and a 70k ex-gratis. The neck on her

  2. I was in college with a rake of the Burkes (there’s something like 10 of them if I remember rightly) and they were always involved in some new controversy.

It’s been years since I was a full time student in NUIG and it’s amazing that even now, they’re still appearing in the media.

  3. Any of these big law firms would hate this type of ‘dirty laundry in public’. If nothing else it’s nice to see the awful working hours in print: “My daughter worked from 8am to 2am… that’s 18 hours she worked, non-stop for Arthur Cox”.

  4. > “I object . . . How dare you call me and my mother a ‘travelling circus’,” Ms Burke said.

That family are a parody of themselves, this reads like the script for a legal comedy.

  5. “Mr Ward said the Burke family had gone as far as picketing the law firm’s offices in the months following their daughter’s dismissal.”

Jesus christ. Good luck to her getting another job.

  6. >“My family is held in very high regard in the local community in Castlebar, Co Mayo.”

    Haha nope!

  7. Would anyone give this family jobs now ?I know if it was me I’d be running a mile if I got a job application from any of them.

I can’t imagine this women will even be let inside the door of a law firm again?

  8. I love this family. I don’t agree with them obviously, but they’re existing offers a lot of entertainment value

  9. Are these fuckers Mayos version of the westboro baptist church over in the states? I don’t know anything about them, what’s their story??

  10. I used to know Ammi, she was in my LLB class at NUIG. She seemed nice enough and probably quite smart when I spoke to her but I noticed she was a bit out of touch with pop culture and technology and she hardly ever wore trousers. I don’t think she’ll ever work in law again after this episode

  11. Anyone else kinda impressed how she is so good at her work, it was mentioned in the WRC. And yet has zero self awareness.

I recognise they are two very separate attributes, but everything I learn, even very basic skills, I learn about myself and others and how others approach problems etc.

Like she would have had to recieve feedback during her degree in order to improve and develop her law skills. And yet, none of the soft skills that we learn a lot of unconsciously, she didn’t learn at all. Such a waste, intelligent but as mad as a box of frogs.

  12. They’re like the Irish branch of Westboro Baptist Church

Either that or they’re related to that fool Gemma o’doherty

  13. She sounds like an absolute Karen. So she lost her mind when someone left her off a lunch invite. The ego it takes to make an issue out of that is unreal.

  14. I was in NUIG at the same time as her, I was always mad horny for her. Didn’t know anything about the burkes. I’d still give her one

  15. Ugh I can hear the mother loud and clear in my head just reading. Must be a nightmare to have as a teacher. Can’t even follow instructions herself, doubt she can teach a child anything.

  16. The whole family sounds like a bunch of crack pots to be honest. They tried to sue the NUI in Galway and mummy dearest was hurling abuse at the judges in that case as well so ended up being removed by law enforcement there too.

  17. She also failed with a judicial review of the Workplace Relations Commission in February and there’s a really long judgement. I can’t begin to imagine the catastrophic gobshite that she is.

  18. It’s richly deserved that no sane solicitor will ever employ her in Ireland (even if she changes her name her qualification and practising cert wouldn’t line up). Wouldn’t stop her setting up in practice on her own though.

I reckon they’d fit right in somewhere in the States though. They could fundraise to bring cases on behalf of the likes of Trump. They’d probably do well financially.
