Columbia Basin Youth Football (CBYF) is a nonprofit organization and the nation’s largest independent youth football league.

Terran Brown, 7-on-7 Director at CBYF, said the organization is made up of 39 independent nonprofits in small communities. “We go all the way up to Almira-Coulee-Hartline to Selah, Naches, Hermiston, Pendleton, Walla Walla and all Tri-Cities schools.”

This year CBYF created a new division, offering girls 7-on-7 non-contact. “Girls flag football is actually one of the fastest growing sports in the country so we thought it was super appropriate to bring that in this year,” said Brown.

CBYF has eight girls teams right now. Brown credits the community in Finley as the first ones to step and and put together a squad.

As a nonprofit, CBYF is working to eliminate enrollment fees for players kindergarten to eighth grade to make playing football more accessible. These efforts are possible through donations and fundraisers.

“This year our goal is $125,000 and we’re really hoping to hit that,” said Brown.

You can register for both events online. All proceeds will go toward funding youth football in the region.
