Karmel Killandi, Head of Entertainment at ERR, revealed that Tommy Cash had to meet with the Board of ERR over his collaboration with Joost Klein.
In an interview with Sky Radio, Karmel Killandi revealed that Tommy Cash had to meet with the Board of ERR due to “United By Music”, a collaboration with Joost Klein, who represented the Netherlands at Eurovision 2024 and who was disqualified from the contest before the final due to a backstage incident during the semi-final. The song, which contains the line “fuck the EBU”, was released a week after Tommy won Eesti Laul 2025.
Killandi explained:
“We got an inquiry from the EBU and immediately explained that the men are indeed friends, but this sentence about the EBU (‘fuck the EBU’) was sung by Joost, who may be angry with the EBU because of last year’s disqualification, where he was not found guilty.
At the request of the EBU, the board of ERR met with Tommy face-to-face on this topic as well. All parties understood and were convinced that it was not a malicious reference to the contest. Joost is more rebellious than the average person and they are friends in music, but it turned out badly.
But we are back in the EBU’s good books now.”
Tommy Cash will represent Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 with “Espresso macchiato”. He will perform in slot number 4 in the first semi-final on May 13. Find out more about Tommy below:

Estonia debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 alongside six other countries. In 2001, Estonia won the Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen, Denmark, the country’s only victory to date. They won with the song “Everybody”, performed by Tanel Padar, Dave Benton & 2XL, who took a surprise victory in Copenhagen. After the success of the late-90s and early 00s, Estonia failed to qualify for the final from 2004-2008. In 2009, Estonia launched a new selection show, Eesti Laul. They have qualified for the final on 10 out of 16 attempts since.
