Argentina secures IMF deal, dismantles capital controls โ€ข FRANCE 24 English

President Javier Milei on Friday announced that he would lift most of the countryโ€™s strict capital and currency controls next week, a high-stakes gamble made possible by a new loan from the International Monetary Fund. It marked a major step forward in the libertarian’s program to normalise Argentina’s economy after decades of unbridled spending.

  1. Hahaha, Argentina is about to repeat what South Korea went through. All your industries are about to be taken over by Wall St at firesale prices – after Soros and his media buddies start a shortselling and confidence attack on Argentina.

  2. Somehow getting a loan is considered an achievement. LMFAO…. they must have a very low expectations of themselves. as they say: losers stay at the bottom of the totem pole.

  3. That short sentence fragment of "Limits of fluctuations" on exchange rates kind of says it all. Not a bad idea to start out easing capital controls, but they need to keep proceeding with it (even by 'baby steps') to get Argentian out of its perennial fiscal problems.
