Prince William is gearing up to be King soon. After reports of him taking up the monarchy “earlier than expected,” new information came out about how his coronation will go about and how it’ll differ than his father King Charles.

Royal author Tom Quinn told Harper’s Bazaar that the Prince of Wales’ coronation “will look much less formal, less stiff than it has been under [King] Charles.” A major difference is how Prince William will interact with his wife, Kate Middleton. What we can expect to see when William and Kate take the throne is a much more emotionally engaged couple. And it’s partly because I think they want to be a king and queen who are seen to engage much more with ordinary people in a very relaxed way.”

Quinn added that unlike King Charles’ coronation, where “the emphasis has been on ceremony, on dignity, all that kind of old-fashioned stuff,” he said that the Wales will “be doing the opposite.”

The author previously told the publication that succession planning had come soon after Charles’ own coronation ceremony. “The people I’ve spoken to have said that the succession planning, as they call it, began even before Charles’ diagnosis,” he said. “I mean, he’s the oldest Prince of Wales to become king in history, so succession planning had begun before Charles came to the throne simply because of the age issue.”

Another insider told the outlet that while Prince William has a lot of influence on policy, that doesn’t extend to Harry. “Charles has a softly-softly attitude to Harry and Meghan, and so that’s the policy for now, but the gloves will be off when [William] inherits the throne. If they started using the HRH titles on a regular basis, he would take them away for good,” the source said.

One part of William’s most eager tasks as King to deal with his brother Prince Harry. “It’s no secret William wants Harry more harshly dealt with. He thinks he has betrayed the family from top to bottom, which is the ultimate Windsor crime. It wouldn’t take much to provoke him to flex his muscles when he is king,” a palace insider told The Daily Beast.

Another insider told the outlet that while Prince William has a lot of influence on policy, that doesn’t extend to Harry and that he wants to cut all ties with his brother. “Charles has a softly-softly attitude to Harry and Meghan, and so that’s the policy for now, but the gloves will be off when [William] inherits the throne. If they started using the HRH titles on a regular basis, he would take them away for good,” the source said.
