Emergency services have freed a trapped person following a two-car crash in North Dunedin.

A police spokesman said the vehicles collided just before 1.30pm today in Warrender St.

A Fire and Emergency NZ spokesman said they managed to get the person out about 2.15pm and into the care of St John ambulance.

There were some injuries, police said, but the condition of the person was not yet known.

Fire crews from Willowbank and Dunedin stations attended.

Dunedin City Council contractors are working to clean up some diesel on the road, which remains closed, police said.
