WARSAW – Poland plans to increase its military presence in Latvia and jointly invest in the defence industry, according to Polish Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

During a visit to the Polish Military Contingent in Ādaži, near the capital, Riga, Kosiniak-Kamysz said that the number of Polish soldiers in Latvia would increase to 300.

Kosiniak-Kamysz said that cooperation aims not only to strengthen the defence capabilities of both countries but also to foster technological and economic development.

Poland also plans to withdraw from the Ottawa Convention against landmines, a step the Latvian parliament already backed on Wednesday.
