Fuck, this meme has really made me think a few things through. I’m gonna have the take down the garlic I have hanging at the door to keep Protestants out.
Got a good chuckle from this 🤣
True story, I like to complain that the english are not aware of their history, cromwell etc. on line but some of my best friends IRL are english.
Ah yeah, but they might be at it again
There not terrorists when they are on their own land
It’s all pints and craic until someone says Londonderry
True for majority of British I met, mostly we can get along. A few caveats though:
– them not knowing about Irish-british history is always a rub.
– the class system has done so much damage to their psyche. What worries me more is the class system that seems to be developing here.
– they have a wide range of fuckwits that I would go out of my way to avoid. Way more than in Ireland.
I actually have a friend in England who I speak to on Discord, we’re in a server that has a political channel and we’d get into debates like this and the moment we talk outside of the political channel its just like the bottom of the picture.
Assume this is an April fools joke?
All said and done, craic or not. I want to see a united Ireland before I die.
Going by the bottom picture you don’t know many English people.
I’d happily take any Irishman out for a pint. Lovely country. 🇮🇪🇬🇧
I’m pretty sure that the second bit is how my smooth talking dad met my mum.
r/Ireland now has a chad/soyjak meme. I fucking hate this country
Except British people tend to really like Ireland and it’s people and never go on about terrorism. Lived there for years.
This sub is just obsessed with Britain is all.
Looks like Stephen Donnelly on top
Half English / Half Irish and a Gemini, regularly have these conversations with myself.
I open this sub and the first thing I see is a Britain post. I’m partially believing you guys want to join the UK. You’re obsessed.
I hate saying only this but….. it’s true.
But a pint of Irish beer, I imagine.
never
Thank you for cutting through this thorny issue.
Hah it’s not as antagonistic as this, but most English people I’ve casually had conversations with are so oblivious to the history between our two countries that it’s actually almost offensive.
I had a conversation with someone from England in my local once who was saying, rather casually and with no malice that Brexit was delayed by Ireland and that just because we didn’t vote for it and that it wasn’t fair that we don’t follow the rest of the U.K and agree to it as he thought we were still a part of the U.K. I just had to leave the conversation. The conversation only turned really sour with his really blasé and ignorant opinion on the troubles…
Spot on man
This is true. I find brits a bit weird to work with though.
They’re super friendly, love a long winded meeting and getting drunk during the day….but will launch you under a bus in a second and generally useless at keeping promises.
Maybe just my experience (music business).
