Never about savings. It’s patently obvious at this point and anyone believing otherwise is still in the cult.

I don’t know if anyone is keeping track, but this administration has lost dozens and dozens of lawsuits, and judges have overthrown their actions.

the legal wheels are turning, and they will be churning for the next decade or so, and this administration is going to lose every single one of them.

Spent a bunch of money and made things worse…that sounds exactly like Elon.
Do you know what the best (worst) part of all this is? No conservative voter has ever actually thought of the budget of NOAA, or HUD, or the DOE, or insert whatever thing that they want gutted. Maybe they’ve thought that it’s “too much” in an abstract way, but dollar amount? Never. And never in a way related to the overall budget of the US.
So guess what happens when a Democrat gets in charge again? They’ll try to tack more money into those places again and even if they’re not getting it back to where it was when it was fine, it’ll still be seen as “wasteful Democrats just spending your tax dollars on nothing”. Takes 5 minutes for them to these things and it’ll take years and years and years to rebuild them if it’s even possible.

A DOGE staffer created government system accounts for Russian users, who then attempted to access the sensitive system more than 20 times within 15 minutes of the account being created. The only reason they couldn’t access it was because of network policies that prevent out-of-country access.

Managed to rob all the data though, so that’s a plus.

That was the goal. Any agency/dept against him or Trump gone.
Also he gets all US data to feed his AI unlike other companies.
And Musk gets all govt contracts now with no bidding process.
It wasn’t about debt or cost. Maybe cut services to squeek tax cuts through reconciliation but why care about rules at this point? Claim its legal and do it. Anyone says no and it’s fake news and deport them.
Easier to destroy the govt and faith in it than to build/sustain it.

He did end all the investigations into his companies and screw a bunch of sweet new government contracts. So, there’s that.
On the other hand, in the long term we’ll be even worse off.
This was always the plan, not to save money but to destroy the world. He compromised all US systems and basically handed Russia an API to suck them all down.
They haven’t even started calculating the damage done or the damage going forward. Hundreds of billions at least. DOGE will be the costliest action of this administration.
He saved himself from oversight, lawsuits, investigations, and fines. He also got himself new contracts and money. He did what he intended to do.
This is because there really isn’t a lot of fraud and waste. Programs were designed and vetted to root out fraud and waste. Baring actually finding anything, much like what ICE is doing, the goal is to create something to sell as cutting waste. In the case of ICE it is taking anyone so that they have someone they can say they detained, whether they should be or not. The whole thing is a scam. Why do you think they got rid of the IRS auditors today that look at the top 1%. They are trying to make their theft legal and what better way then making sure no one is seeing if they are being honest. Making tax fraud easier is the goal.
The entire point was to make us as vulnerable as possible while causing as much chaos as possible. MAGA accepted him fully after years of bashing him all because he’s a rich white guy spouting their racist rhetoric so he didn’t experience any resistance to this coup.
He saved a lot. Of data on US citizens on Russian servers.
That was the intent. Pretend you are doing “good” while he opens the back door of the computer systems to let the Russians in. Mission accomplished.

He was never going to save money by cutting employees. There just wasn’t enough to cut to save the 1 trillion or more he was wanting.
I believe he really wanted the data and to become the sole contractor for the government. Suck up all that government money for himself and feed the data to his AI or anyone else who wants to buy access to it.
At the end of the day he likely will cost the govt more than he “saved”.
And sold our most sensitive data to the Russians. And nothing.
On top of that, you will still pay taxes but have worse services. It’s like I just signed up for DSL through AT&T
And nothing is being done about this . people have been investigated and prosecuted for much less.
