  1. “Up to and including 21 nights”??? More useless legislation. Property owners can just cap stays at 20 days. How much oversight is Failte Ireland actually going to have? Can you book for 20 days under your name and book the next 20 days under another name? I really am sick to death of all these fake, performative “solutions”. On paper, they can make it seem like they’re cracking down, but in practice, nothing will change.

  2. Buuking. Come are parasitic and a rip off. I have been charged for a room at 100% markup on the price offered by the actual hotel. Best practice is to search on these sites but book directly with the hotel

  3. Whatever they decide the fine amount to be, it should be doubled

  4. It’s better and easier to go after the platforms, but why Failte Ireland?

Are they not incentivised to increase the number of tourists? Why not give the county councils power here?

What is the rationale here outside of not wanting to fix the problem at all?

  5. Other European countries introduced this and some of them had to introduce task forces to monitor it because the sites still flouted the rules.

  6. “Could” receive fines?

It will be like Apple paying their tax bill!
