  1. Basically, an isolationist viewpoint vs a cooperative viewpoint. I think the latter will be more productive. How far it’ll carry us who can say. I don’t think we can understand the magnitude of nature’s fury.

  2. Thanks for sharing this article. It was genuinely beneficial. Honestly, I’ve always been in that camp of leftist, but also wary of our looming climate collapse. But I was unaware that anybody in my space was helping us prepare for this.

  3. This article is totally about me. I’m a professor. My research is about climate change impacts and community adaptation. I’m into permaculture and bioregionalism. I am a meditator and a mindfulness practitioner, and I have very strong beliefs about the sacredness of Nature. I just bought a large farm with three creeks on it, and our plan is to turn it into a community land trust.

The only thing I’d say is that yes, Nature-connectedness, Earth Worship, place-based community can help us prep for whatever may come, but it really it’s more about transformation to sustainability.

  4. I’ve always been a prepared liberal that wants strong safety nets but has tried to avoid dependance on the government because of times like these.

I think what is understated here is that this whole industry largely exists out of fear and you shouldn’t live that way. We need to continue to hope and work for the best and be prepared for the worst. All of that starts between your ears, assisting your family, friends, and community in becoming more resilient.

The world isn’t ending tomorrow but things are getting harder, closer to the baseline of human existence as opposed to the wealth and relative peace we have been blessed with for 75 years.
