US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has conveyed President Donald Trump’s stance with his statement that Washington may abandon efforts to seek a peaceful resolution between Ukraine and Russia.

Details: A CNN source said that Trump “doesn’t have limitless patience for people to posture and play games”, referring to the search for ways to achieve a peaceful resolution.

The source stated that Rubio’s statements expressed the US President’s frustration that the progress of his peace efforts is currently not what he expected.
The CNN source also mentioned three meetings between Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff and Russian ruler Vladimir Putin, as well as numerous meetings between US representatives and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during which ending the war was discussed.
“It’s time to get serious,” the source added.

Earlier on Friday, Rubio said that the US is ready to abandon its efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine if it sees no progress in this direction.
The United States presented its own proposals to its European allies for a “peace deal” between Russia and Ukraine, which, in particular, envisage easing sanctions against Russia should a lasting ceasefire take place.
