I implore everyone to listen to The NY Times podcast today about Trump voters in Michigan and how they fully support him even in the face of job loss. We live in an amazing country, folks. Just amazing.

Stockholm Syndrome. Brainwashing is real.
It’s a cult
I’m so fascinated to see how much suffering they’ll accept before the spell breaks.
The power of cult psychology. Truly is an incredible phenomenon
It’s insane…
I thought Trump supporters would admit they were wrong about the things he was doing… nope….
And the Kilmar situation is just blatantly unconstitutional and it’s like talking to zombies.
They just repeat nonsense propaganda. They say he doesn’t have rights, I correct them show them that the constitution grants every person rights to due process… And literally 3 mins go by and they’re back saying he doesn’t have rights…
I mean, I can’t anymore, they’ve become insane.
They’re addicted to hate.
I mean many I’ve seen still support him even though they lost love ones to Covid. This is no surprise, they are not serious people, thus they should be treated as such.
I know a Trump supporter who said his stock portfolio went up significantly due to Trump’s first term (while ignoring the same happened under Biden). When Trump returned to office he kept harping about his positive impact on the stock market. Last time I checked with him, he said Trump is crashing the economy on purpose to get rates down. Long story short, you can’t reason with his cult followers.
I have zero sympathy for Trump supporters, and just as little for the eligible voters who didn’t vote this time.
My plan is to batten down the hatches to minimize my financial damage (relatively speaking compared to my fellow working class Americans), and metaphorically twist the knife in their self-inflicted wounds. They can’t be reasoned with nor can they be rehabilitated.
I don’t know how bad it’ll get, but the current state of the U.S. bond market is painting a very bad and painful picture. We’re pretty much throwing away our global advantage that we’ve enjoyed since WWII.
I’ve not lost all hope, though. It is fleeting, though…
Because if they can’t succeed they want everyone else to fail.
It’s really sad these people vote against themselves time and time again. Hanging on to the obvious lies of a con man, even willing hurt themselves and their fellow Americans. They are so mad but instead of facing reality and realizing who’s at fault, themselves, republicans, and trump, they blame the libs because they can’t face their own inadequacies, it would would destroy who the think they are.
I have pro bono clients who voted for Trump and are losing their homes and the medications they depend on to survive due to Trump’s policies. These are prices they are more than willing to pay so long as it means their perceived enemies are also suffering.
Of course they would. They all share a single brain cell among them.
Ask them again in 6 months.
Oh yeah awesome news here, yeah they’ll support him how if they lose their jobs? I hope that experimental phase gets tested long term for them all who get the chance, and then we’ll see what they think about it afterwards.
I’ve been poor and it’s not fun
That is what cults are.

Their managers/bosses should oblige them. I hear there are a lot of openings for fruit and vegetable picking
Trump supporters will still support him but American voters will not.
Nobody’s sitting around waiting for future jobs at a goddamn toaster factory. They’re going to beat the crap out of maga at the polls next November for ruining their businesses and destroying their life savings.
And I’ll be happy to hold their jacket.
>Trump voters say they will support him even if they lose their jobs
Narrator: They will in fact be losing their jobs… and their house… and their retirement… and their health… and the vast majority of their rights and freedoms.
Take it with a grain of salt. A lot of people can’t bring themselves to admit they are wrong and regret past decisions.
This is no surprise.
Pretty much all MAGATs i encounter seemingly don’t understand their political and economic systems to a middle school level.
Let them lose and ”find out”.
I truly don’t think they can answer this accurately until it happens. People haven’t been negatively affected too badly yet. It’ll come.
The Dems have to be feeling like the lowest of the low…Trump’s supporters are like, ‘The world could enter WW3 and be obliterated under Trump’s watch and I’d still support him’.
That’s a sign of a cult. When the leader or movement no longer becomes the means to end but is the end.
The cult leader is no longer criticized or held responsible. The cult leader always takes priority over everything else. The goal is to support whatever the cult leader wants, even if it’s detrimental to society or the followers themselves. When the cult leader speaks, the thinking is done. Nothing the cult leader does or says is unacceptable because he has been, in essence, deified.
It’s sad snd scary so many in society don’t understand this. I grew up in a cult, so I have some experience. The problem is, people who are in a cult don’t believe they are in a cult. Demagoguery, rhetoric, and propaganda are powerful tools and can brainwash people. I’m not using the term “cult” lightly or hyperbolically. It’s not something moly because if political differences or because I don’t like Trump. I don’t and never did consider previous Republicans or the Republican Party as cults. I didn’t like George Bush but I don’t consider him a cult leader. MAGA really is a cult movement and Trump is reaching cult leader status.
So, will they support him if they don’t have any government benefits to prop them up when they *do* lose their jobs?
They might feel differently when they realize the social safety net has been gutted.

What they say and do are two different things. When you lose your job and can’t pay the bills or feed your family, reality hits real hard.
