EL CENTRO — The Imperial Irrigation District and its partners, the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) and California Project WET (Water Education Today), are hosting a special workshop on climate change and its impact on California’s water resources.

The workshop, for educators working with students in grades 3-12 (not the general public), will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, in IID’s Condit Auditorium, 1285 Broadway in El Centro. The deadline to register is Friday, April 25.

Understanding climate change and its link to floods, droughts, water quality, and more is crucial for all Californians. Educators are encouraged to participate, interact with experts from DWR and IID, and learn activities to help students understand how climate change impacts Imperial Valley’s water and how they can adapt to the region’s changing environment.

A few spots are left; therefore, local educators are encouraged to register using the QR code below. Registration ($20) is limited to the first 30 educators. Additional registrants will be placed on a waiting list.

Workshop participants will receive a $100 stipend from Project WET, the new Project WET “Water & Earth Systems” curriculum guide, the opportunity to earn 0.8 continuing education units (CEUs), and a continental breakfast and lunch. The $20 registration fee will also be refunded after completing the workshop.
