One of the biggest transfer portal signings that took place in the college football world this offseason took place at Miami, with the Hurricanes adding former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck.

In the wake of Cameron Ward leaving for the NFL, it makes sense that Miami went after a veteran QB, and they got a high-upside player with Beck, who threw for 58 touchdowns and 20 interceptions in his 39 games in Athens.

Since the deal took place earlier this year, rumors of Beck’s NIL earnings have trickled to the surface, with reports showing that Miami is paying him up to $4 million for the single season in Coral Gables.

This past week while a guest on The Pivot podcast, Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin caught wind of that number, and had quite the reaction.

“Miami gave him $4.3 million?” Kiffin asked when the subject was brought up. “Did they watch his game against us?”

Kiffin is referencing the 2024 matchup between Ole Miss and Georgia, where the Rebels beat Beck and the Bulldogs 28-10. In that game, Beck completed 20-of-31 passes for just 186 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. Of course, Beck and the Bulldogs beat Ole Miss 52-17 in 2023 when Beck threw for 306 yards, two touchdowns, and one INT.

The deal for $4.3 million has not been confirmed, but the On3 NIL Valuation tool shows that Beck has an earning of approximately that amount. Whether you think it is too high or too low, we now know exactly what Kiffin thinks of the deal.

Unfortunately, we won’t get to see Ole Miss and Miami face off this year during the regular season, but there is a chance that both teams make it to the College Football Playoff and give us quite a show. Should that happen, you can bet this quote from Kiffin will be brought back to the light.
