When CM Punk, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns square off in the main event of Saturday’s first night of WrestleMania 41 there will be an unexpected storyline that doesn’t have a thing to do with the wrestling business.
That story?
Well, just a day after Reigns created a social media stir with his comments about Donald Trump, Punk went all-in on ripping Elon Musk. So, it seems, as is the case with just about all things in American life these days, politics will be at play.
Reigns wins and the MAGA crowd cheers. Punk wins and the folks on the left celebrate.
So, what did Punk have to say about Mr. DOGE?
“You know, I can sort of draw a line in the sand and say, when Elon Musk is throwing Zeke Heils up at the podium and people, I could just see people make excuse for that and go, no, no, no, no, (expletive) own it,” Punk said on ‘The Ringer Wrestling Show Yeah.’ “We saw what you did. Don’t gaslight me.
“I’m not (expletive) stupid as you are, you know what I mean?” he continued. “Like, I know what you did, so I know what you are. Now I know where you stand and this is where I stand. And it’s just a (expletive) strange, ugly world out there. And the only thing I can do is be true to myself and implement and be a voice for myself and my family, my community, then the world. You know, I don’t know what people want from us as entertainers.”
This comes just a day after Reigns created controversy in a Vanity Fair article when he revealed that he is a registered Democrat who, apparently, voted for and supports Trump.
“One person was giving us information,” Reigns said. “One person was answering questions, so it wasn’t that hard.
“I support our president,” he added. “Trump is one of those guys where he’s got a vast history and a huge background. He’s been in entertainment. He’s been in big business, politics. At this point, I’m supporting a bright future for our country. Positive and competent leadership. For us to be what we’re supposed to be — to be a world leader and carry that respect and do what a world power like us should be doing.”
Reigns told Vanity Fair that he doesn’t support everything that Trump does, but he said enough to stir things up, big-time, in the wrestling community.
