Clodagh Rodgers, who represented the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 1971, has passed away at the age of 78.
Singer Clodagh Rodgers has passed away at the age of 78. The singer from Northern Ireland represented the United Kingdom at Eurovision 1971. Clodagh first began performing at the age of 13 and went on to have commercial success in the 1960s and 1970s.
The BBC internally selected her to represent the United Kingdom in Dublin at Eurovision 1971. Over six weeks, she performed six songs on It’s Cliff Richard, with her winning entry being determined by regional juries. “Jack in the Box” would finish 4th in Dublin, scoring 98 points and narrowly missing out on a top 3 result by 2 points.
Following her participation in the Eurovision Song Contest, she would continue to be a regular guest and performer on television in Ireland and the United Kingdom. In the 1990s, Clodagh made her West End debut, and in 201,2 she would release her final album “The Kenny Young Years”.
The Eurovoix team would like to express our condolences to Clodagh Rodger’s family and friends at this difficult time.
