Hello, I have a broken tilt and turn window in my house in Canada, imported from Germany and likely 30 years old. We don’t really have these windows here in general and so not a lot of help to get it closed. It is stuck in the tilt position, open, and the handle only moves about 12-2 then stops. I can’t find the reset button, or I think I’ve found it but it doesn’t work. I will add photos. They are not great as it was hard to get my phone down the side of the window. If anyone can help locate the reset button or has any idea of a better way to fix this please help! The first few pictures are of the top mechanisms and then I photographed down the left side of the window, there is nothing of note on the right hand side. We can access from outside but have put it off as it’s difficult to climb to that part of the roof.

  1. Put the handle upside (12-o-clock) postion while the window is open. Then push it close against the frame. Ask someone to assist you with all the corners. Then turn the handle down (6-o-clock)

If that doesn’t work check the mechanism, might need some cleaning and lubrication.

  2. Tighten too hinge screws and only use graphite powder, no oil or grease

  3. I forgot to add that I think the reset button is the off white rectangle down the side of the window but I’m not sure.

  4. Very cool to see these windows in Canada! I’m interested in importing/exporting then. Do you know where and how they were originally sourced?

  5. maybe try a crosspost to r/handwerker and/or r/selbermachen.

it would also be helpful to identify the manufacturer. there should be a logo and some writing somewhere on that metal band around the frame.

    go to [https://windowrepair.shop/content?page=content&coID=12&country_preselect_country=GB](https://windowrepair.shop/content?page=content&coID=12&country_preselect_country=GB) for reference

with that information you can do some searching, sometimes you can find instructions online. you might have to rely on ai translation, if you don’t speak german.

  6. There should be a “button” along the inside of handle side of the glass frame.
You’ll have to do it by feeling with your fingers.

Normally this button is depressed by the outside frame, so that the handle can only moved to a new position when the window is closed.

Sometimes the windows are in a “halfway” point between tilt and open.

If you can find that, keep it depressed as you try and move the handle.

  7. Crosspost to r/Handwerker which is a German speaking sub for handyman’s. Not sure if they allow english. If not I‘m happy to translate, just PM me
