Just like the Ukraine wing of Republicans have to say what they say for part of their base because they want to keep theirs. There was a report like last weak about some in Trumps camp pushing him to do more to pressure the Russians. The report didn’t name them, but imo it would be Rubio and Kellogg. A change in public statements as the OP highlights isn’t exactly evidence of a **actual** change in views.
