‘I’m dreading energy price hike as I’m already paying up to £50 a day’

  1. I don’t understand.

Even the old woman at the end, how much is she using that its £390 gas and £390 elect per month????

  2. > Ms Quinn said she is paying more than £800 a month, anything from £30 to £50 a day.

    > She said: “My TV doesn’t even work. I don’t even have a TV. I have no tumble dryer, no hot tub out my back garden.

    > “That’s just my normal boiler and how much it costs.”

    > ScottishPower discovered a problem with Ms Quinn’s boiler two years ago, but she’s still waiting on a replacement from Falkirk Council.

    > In response, the local authority said: “Work is ongoing with boilers used in these areas with tenants being offered a choice in their preferred type of heating system.”

If the council have admitted its a boiler fault, they should be helping families foot the ridiculous bill. She says she’s in rent arrears, guessing to the council? That seems very unfair.

If that bill is genuinely mostly down to a faulty boiler, then the landlord should be liable. Still, seems insanely high. And ongoing for two years? Hmm.

  3. If she’s using 50 quid per day she’s one of these people who literally has the thermostat set at 37 and leaves it on 22 hours a day (the missing two being a concession to the energy prices right now already).

You’d be absolutely astonished how many people heat their homes like this and think it’s normal or Joe the heating is meant to be used.

  4. £50 is absolutely insane.

I have multiple computers running 24/7, lighting on most of the time, i even keep some lights on during the night, i cook alot and boil the kettle probley 40 times a day.. Like is she powering her entire neighborhood or these numbers make 0 sense..

  5. I’m always interested when they have a statement that requires a response from the offending paty, and no follow up response from the injured party. Her situation is bullshit and the price rises are ridiculous, but it definitely feels like a narrative is being pushed here…

  6. *She said: “My TV doesn’t even work. I don’t even have a TV. I have no tumble dryer, no hot tub out my back garden.*

See, this is concerning, rather than doubt her, I would rather ask if someone is stealing, is it possible someone is leeching from her Electric and she’s getting all the bills? Could the meter be wrong? clearly something isn’t right.

  7. She’s 100% lying. There is no way 8-10KW of energy is being dumped 24/7 inside that house without it being incredibly hot or there being gallons of hot water being poured down the drain. We’re talking an electric shower running non-stop to waste the amount of energy she claims is being used.

  8. So at £50 a day / £800 a month fuel cost:

    A. Move into a B&B at £20 a day somewhere.

    B. Get that bloody heating system swapped out. Get a loan from bank if needed.

    C. It pays back in a few months.

  9. I feel like this woman was chosen for this article so that people would spend their time dissecting her strange heating bill to distract them from how disgusting the current cost crisis is. Harder to hate the leaders when we’re busy squinting at some random persons energy usage to try and figure out whether she *deserves* to be struggling or not.

  10. I had some crazy high bills when I moved into a new place. Turns out the meter was broken. Had it replaced and after it was normal.

  11. What fucking planet are you living on that you’re paying £50 a day? And what’s your profession that you’re able to pay that and still eat enough to have a triple chin?
