Victoria County Democrats host ‘We the People Have No Kings’ rally
VICTORIA, Texas – Just two weeks after the Victoria County Democratic Party’s Hands Off protest, they hosted another rally on Saturday, April 19 at the Dr. Pattie Dodson Public Health Center.
The organizers gathered to protest several initiatives by the federal government and the Department of Government Efficiency led by Elon Musk.
DOGE intends to cut funding in federal entities to limit government spending and attempt to lower the national debt. Many protesters expressed their concern for the changes in federal programs and departments. They say they’re worried about the impact cuts will have on Social Security and other social services.
The theme for Saturdays rally was “We the People Serve No Kings,” extending the protest to the Trump Administrations deportation policies. Protesters expressed the importance of due process when handling matters of deportation and immigration.
