Belgian universities still play a leading role in asphalt development, besides roads have gotten a lot better in Belgium in the last decade, it’s really just the neglect of previous generations of politicians I’d say.
Roads are more than asphalt. So many roads just seem to be laid on top of dirt with almost no sub-base. Of course you’ll have to rebuild them every 3 years when the ground shifts/sinks!
