Just been given this carrier bag at a mini-mart (corner shop equivalent) in Kazakhstan.
Originally I thought it might be old stock which was “recycled” by Morrisons, then I noticed the Astana branding at the top left, and Cyrillic text at the bottom. Anybody got an explanation for why shops here would be using carrier bags with an outdated logo, over 4000km from the nearest Morrisons?

Fuck yeah
Is greatest bag in all of Kazakhstan ?!
I miss proper carrier bags
“Very Nice!”
Ooo we used to get these (we left about 8 years ago) but they didn’t have Astana on them, I wonder if they’ve become some sort of symbol or something. We also used to get fish and chip shop bags – the white ones with blue shells printed on them. We always thought it was left over stock (especially since Morrisons re branded) but it’s weird to see them printed especially – it says along the bottom that it was printed in Kazakhstan (domestic product).
I miss Safeway
My guess is the factory which originally made these bags for Morrisons has continued to use the same design after Morrisons found a new supplier, wether this is out of spite or they just can’t be arsed to change the design or retool is anyones guess. They’ve found buyers for them in places like Kazakhstan who simply like the design and have no idea it’s the old logo for a supermarket chain in the UK.
You can use it to keep your potassium in.
He is my neighbor Nursultan Tuliagby. He is pain in my assholes. I get a window from a glass, he must get a window from a glass. I get a step, he must get a step. I shop at Morrisons, he cannot afford. Great success!
I see Borat is a Morrisons enjoyer, how British of him.

I’ve been given Morrison’s bags in Kyrgyzstan, years ago. I imagine it was because they are made in China, Morrison’s sales were falling, and the producers were offloading the stock cheaply. The Cyrillic on this one says “Made it Kazakhstan. By buying this product you are supporting a local manufacturer.” Perhaps they’ve just adopted the Morrisons bag and logo as a sort-of generic shopping bag?

Not sure but I also saw a few of these going around when I was living in Almaty. I found it strange also.
The continuation of a long story
