  1. > “Was [SATC] the first?” Bush Hager asked, to which Davis replied, “I mean… there’s The Golden Girls, which people love to compare us to. And, obviously, an incredible show in it’s own right, in it’s own way.”

    > Bush Hager clearly knows her GGs, and noted “they were meant to be in their 50s.”

    > “Ohhhhhhhhh! That’s so painful!” Davis exclaimed, before emitting what can only be described as a pained wheeze, while Hager added that she and her former Today cohost Hoda Kotb have had this same discussion many times in the past.

    > “I thought they were 80,” Davis, who is 60 and now plays the character of Charlotte on And Just Like That 20-plus years after SATC concluded, said once she caught her breath. “Sometimes it’s really good to remember these things… that are just part of the big picture of what society is telling us to expect from our lives. And it’s not true.”

  2. I thought they were older as well. Rewatched and was like whattt

  3. Once you hit 50 back then your hair just became a slightly more vibrant version of your grandmother’s

  4. The primary characters were 55-63, and Sophia was approximately 80-85 (it would change).

Blanche was the youngest – but she would also lie, so it’s unknown if she actually was several years younger than Rose/Dorothy.

This also aligns approximately with the real ages of the actresses, with the exception being Estelle Getty, who was 63 when the show premiered.

  5. I’m pushing 40 and I still look younger than my dad did at 25.

The 70s and before was weird. People from back then look older than they were. The clothes, photo quality, hair style, skin care, and just the general way people presented themselves.

  6. I remember being a kid during this time and wondering why women over 40 would go get “grandma hair” and wear matronly clothes.

I think it was almost unseemly back then for women of a certain age to dress like the younger generation.

  7. Oh come in, she is too old to be this ignorant. I was born in 89′ and i remember how people discovered their love for Bad perms and beige clothes, the moment, they entered their 60s.
