  1. > “However she reacted to that sketch is completely valid,” Yang recently told Extra. “With parody, you kind of forget the sort of human, emotional cost that it sort of extols on someone.”

    > Reflecting on Wood’s reaction this past week, Yang described the backlash as a learning opportunity for comedians. “It’s this thing that we tend to forget sometimes, and this is a reminder,” Yang said. “It seems like she’s spoken to people at the show about it, and hopefully there’s room to move on from it.”

    > He continued, “You need those reminders every now and then that parody can go too far sometimes, and that we as comedians can take [accountability] for that instead of banging our foot and saying, ‘We should be allowed to say whatever we want.'”

  2. She was so real for that, honestly I would’ve done the same lol.

  3. I always find myself binging SNL clips and I’m not particularly sensitive and I was immediately taken aback by the “parody.” Just one hundred percent mean spirited.

  4. Bowen is a douche he also said Ethan’s ex wife Lilly James was a culture vulture basically and gave Trisha paytas a spot on snl

  5. I get what she’s saying but if comedy starts worrying about hurt feelings, it stops being comedy and turns into corporate PR.

  6. The premise of the sketch was a parody. Every single character except hers was a parody. Their portrayal of her was just a mean caricature.

  7. What’s funny is I only heard of this actress a few months ago, don’t watch the show, and it was in a quote from her about her teeth. Something about you can tell she’s not American because of them.

  8. Definitely a real problem worth continuing to lactate about

  9. STOP WITH THIS FUCKING NONSENsE. There have been 938772773833 articles over this in the last week and there has to be something more important in the world to write about than a dumb SNL skit and the hurt fee fees of a Brit

  10. Once SNL or South Park parody you, you’ve made it. Her negativity will be duly noted. She should laugh it off and only be positive about it. Trust me. Hollywood will take note. She needs to suck it up buttercup or she will not work.

  11. Too many pussies in the world today. I guess we can attribute that to All of us living good these days.

  12. All she’s done is make sure that SNL never does anything about her work again. There was zero outrage when they did it to Strahan or Tyson. They understood that fighting back against being roasted is a losing battle. Especially if you’ve never stood up for anyone else that’s had their appearance roasted on the show.

  13. I hate hate hate Donald Trump but we’ve also spent the better part of a decade openly mocking his ugly appearance, his small hands, obnoxious hair, and orange face.

But we draw the line at big teeth on a beautiful woman.

  14. At what point are we gonna be done with this conversation? It is dragging at this point. Is the entire cast gonna apologize at this rate?

  15. She needs thicker skin if she’s going to be in the entertainment industry

  16. Ah thanks I’m so glad a celebrity validated every common persons criticism of the sketch

  17. Rarely is there a situation where I find myself pleased with the responses from both sides.

  18. Parody and satire is fine, so long as it’s done creatively and is actually a joke. And not just shaming someone.

This isn’t punching up, so to speak. It’s punching down.

Her “parody” was just a crude version of laughing at someone via their natural beauty not conforming to the Hollywood norms. It was middle-school level of humour without any creative input. There wasn’t anything clever introduced, it didn’t attempt to be anything other than making fun of someone’s natural features via their teeth.

Her response makes sense. She was expecting to be parodied, but just got bullied instead. That’s not good comedy.

  19. I’m getting the vibe he’s leaving the show at the end of the season. He’s seems to be whining about something to the press every week.

  20. While I despise Trump, why isn’t this afforded to folks like him when he’s made fun of for his weight, hair, skin etc? He’s an awful human and it removes some of our innate empathy and a woman whose easy to like garners so much more sympathy for significantly less deep and frequent insults. It’s almost is this insane universal belief but oft applied to those with whom we like and are familiar with
